4.3     Machines

Figure 4.3.A     The Machines Page

This page is only ever accessible if you are a Dedicated Server customer. The Machines tab in the left menu will not be visible if you are a regular clanserver customer, and hence you wont see this page either.

If however you are a Dedicated Server customer, this page shows you information about each of the machines you control, and also gives you the ability to create or delete server processes on those machines.

  1. Machine Name
Listed here is the name of your machine along with its IP address.

Typically speaking there will only be one machine on display in this page, and it will have its tick box ticked automatically. It is however possible there may be more than one, in which case you will need to tick the tick box of whichever machine you wish to work with.

  2. Mini CPU Meter
Very similar to the Mini CPU meter you see on the servers page, this meter measures the CPU usage of the machine as a whole, and not just usage of the individual servers.

  3. Hardware
This selection is hidden by default. Click 'show...' in order to expand it. You will be presented with something similar to this:

    Figure 4.3.B     Machine Hardware Expanded

This shows you basic information about the machine including how many processors it contains and of what type, how much memory it has, how large the hard drive(s) is/are and details of the network cards it has.

  4. Servers List
This list is expanded by default. It lists all the active and inactive servers currently assigned to this machine, along with an icon to indicate which game each server is running.

  5. Server Tick boxes
A tick box is provided for each server should you wish to perform some action on them. For example, if you wanted to restart one or more of the servers, simply click their tick boxes and then click on the Restart button below.

  6. Machine Statistics
Similar to the statistics option as seen on the Servers page. This is covered in more detail here.

  7. Action Buttons
These buttons should be familiar by now. They will become active when you tick one or more server tick boxes. You then need only click on one of these buttons to either start, stop or restart your selected server(s).

  8. Delete Server Button
This button is greyed out by default. You need to tick one or more server tick boxes for it to become active. By clicking on this button you are asking ClanForge™ to completely remove the server(s) you have selected. You will be presented with a confirmation dialog box asking if you are certain you wish to delete the server(s).

We don't anticipate you should ever really need to delete a server on your machine. An inactive server uses no resources at all and can always be assigned a profile from a different game if you have decided you no longer want to play the game this server is for. Please be absolutely certain that you do not want a server before you delete it.

Note: Profiles assigned to deleted servers are NOT themselves deleted. They remain in your list of available profiles.

  9. New Server Button
Sometimes one server is just not enough! If you have the spare CPU capacity on the machine, there is no reason you shouldn't take advantage of it. Clicking on this button will take you through the process of creating a new server process.

The screen you will be presented with is almost identical to the Profile and Location pages of the Edit server section under the Servers tab. The only difference is that the Save button is replaced with a Create button. Make sure you select a Game, Mod and Profile for the new server, and then make sure you have the correct Machine and status selected under the Location tab before you click Create.

  10. More
Each of the listed servers has a 'more...' button at the end. Expanding this will present you with information identical to that shown for each server under the Servers tab.

  11. Refresh Button
Clicking this button will refresh the page with up to date information about your servers.
