Figure 4.2.A The Servers Page (Initial View). |
The servers page shows you key information about the servers within the account you selected. Most customers will only see one server in this page, much like the example above. However, dedicated server customers could have several depending on how many server processes they have setup.
By default much of the information available on this screen is unexpanded. You can then reveal it by clicking "show" in the appropriate section.
From this screen you can also start, stop and restart the server, change the profile currently assigned to a server and access live control. This functionality will be explained over the next few pages.
|
- Server Name
This is the server name. It will appear like this in gamespy and in game server lists. The server name is also a URLGameStarter link, which means if you have URLGameStarter installed you can click it and be launched straight into the game.
- Details
Click the show button to expand the details on the server, such as the game, mod, profile, address, etc. Read more.
- Logs
Not to be confused with actual game server logs, expanding this section will show you details of administration activity on your server, such as server restarts, profile changes, etc. and who made them. Read more.
- Statistics
Expand this to get some nice graphs of player numbers and CPU usage over time on the server. Read more.
- Select checkbox
If you only have the one Clanserver, this should be ticked by default. If it is not ticked, you will notice that the Action buttons at the bottom of the screen will be greyed out. This checkbox is usually only of importance to Dedicated Server customers who are running more than one server on their machine. In this instance you need to tick the server you wish to manipulate before you click on any of the action buttons.
- Action buttons
These buttons will only be active if you have a server ticked in the Select checkbox. The Start, Stop and Restart buttons will quite obviously stop an active server, start an inactive server, or restart an active server. The Live Control and Edit buttons lead on to additional screens. You can read more about them by going to the Live Control or the Edit Server pages of this guide.
- Mini CPU Meter
Although not obvious, this box is a tiny CPU meter. It shows the current level of CPU your server is using by filling from the bottom up with a light green.
- Refresh Button
All of the data shown on this page (expanded or otherwise) is a momentary snapshot of the server for a single moment. If you want to refresh that data, click on this button and it will refresh the screen with more up to date information.
